What is BO ID?

BO ID is the Beneficiary Owner Identification Number. It is a 16-digit Demat account number. It is registered with CDSL (Central Depository Services). This is different for each broker/platform account. This unique number is assigned when you open a Demat account for the first time.

This number is used for all transactions related to the Demat account. One must keep this number confidential and not share it with anyone to prevent unauthorized access.

Your BO ID is divided into 2 parts – the first 8 digits make up the DP ID, while the remaining 8 digits form a unique client ID. 

Let's take an example: 

Assuming your BO ID is 9875364521847291. Then, your DP ID (Depository Participant Identification) will be  98753645 and your Client ID will vary according to the stock broker/platform you use.

Steps to find BO ID in Groww, Zerodha, Angel One & UpStox

There are numerous stock brokers/platforms available in the market. Here are the quick and easy steps to find BO ID in Demat Accounts of famous stock brokers in India.

1. Groww

Find BO ID in Groww

Follow these simple steps to find the BO ID in the Groww app or website:

  1. Open the Groww app on your device.
  2. Log in to your account and click on the “Profile” icon which located in the upper right corner.
  3. You will find your BO ID mentioned along with other account information, under the “Profile” section.

2. Zerodha

Find BO ID in Zerodha

You can easily access your ID within the Zerodha account through their official website or app with the following steps:

  1. Visit the official website of Zerodha and click on Dashboard.
  2. A new window will open up. Fill in your user ID and Password. In case you have forgotten your password. Click on the “Forgot password” option and recover your account details.
  3. Click on the “Account” option which is available in the upper right corner.
  4. You will find the “Demat” option on the left side. Click on it.
  5. A new window will open showing your BO ID along with your Demat and DP ID.

3. Angel One

Find BO ID in Angel One

Follow the steps below to find the BO ID in Angel One:

  1. Visit the official website or app of Angel One.
  2. Log in to your Demat account with your username and password.
  3. Navigate to the  “My Profile” section.
  4. Scroll down to find the option of “Demat Account”. Click on it to access your account details.
  5. You will find your Beneficiary Owner ID in this section. 

4. UpStox

Find BO ID in UpStox

Follow the below steps to check Beneficiary Owner ID on Upstox:

  1. Visit the official Upstox website or open the Upstox app on your device.
  2. Sign in to your account and proceed to the dashboard.
  3. After logging in to the dashboard, tap on the “My Profile” button located in the top right corner.
  4. Proceed to the “Linked Demat Account” section for details.
  5. You will find your BO ID along with other details in this section.
